The Transformer Table, a Canadian company, has launched an updated version of its expandable table design, known as the 3.0 model. This table features an improved mechanism that includes longer ball bearing rails and holders, along with rubber stoppers to enhance functionality and durability. The company emphasizes that the mechanisms are crucial to the product's performance.

Unlike the Goliath Table, which I own and find very versatile, the Transformer Table is crafted entirely from hardwood, enhancing its overall quality compared to the particle board utilized in my table. One notable design improvement is the incorporation of a coffee table that facilitates the storage of the table leaves, addressing an issue I've experienced with the Goliath regarding leaf storage.

While I appreciate my Goliath Table for its adaptability, it does have limitations, particularly with sagging under heavy loads and a lack of designated space for the leaves when not in use. This is not necessarily a design flaw but rather a reflection of my usage. I am curious about the Transformer Table's ability to withstand similar stresses, especially when used in workshop settings.

Transformer Table’s Kickstarter campaign has been highly successful, raising $1,053,618 with 34 days remaining, far exceeding their initial goal of $37,847. The project has garnered significant interest, and it will be interesting to see how the new design measures up with practical use.
