The Matroshka furniture system, inspired by Russian nesting dolls and developed by former Mid-Sweden University students Sara Remnerth, Anna Fossane, and Anna Thorsaeus, is back in action. After concerns arose last year regarding its viability due to the website's closure, one of the creators confirmed that the project was still alive. Matroshka Furniture AB has launched a new website and is now accepting orders.

Matroshka offers a compact collection of furniture designed for living, dining, and working in spaces of about 15 square meters, or approximately 160 square feet. The designers emphasize that living in small spaces doesn’t require using small furniture. The concept revolves around viewing the room as a volume rather than just an area, allowing for ample storage while ensuring comfort and aesthetics. As a result, they have achieved a design that encompasses "four rooms in one"—a living room, bedroom, study, and dining area.

One feature that has garnered attention is the raised study area, which allows users to physically separate their work and leisure space, promoting a healthier work-life balance. The furniture also includes a living room setup that accommodates up to 12 people. The dining table, available separately, features a hydraulic system for easy height adjustment, making it versatile for different occasions, transitioning between a dining table and a coffee table. Additionally, the design incorporates a double bed and ample storage options.
