Interior designers Elina and Diana Mussakulova from the studio Sdelaemremont have creatively transformed a 55-square-metre apartment in Almaty, Kazakhstan, employing innovative design ideas and efficient storage solutions. Initially hesitant about the project due to the client's desire for a hotel-inspired look, the duo embraced the challenge after the client expressed a wish for an interior that reflected her minimalist aesthetic.

The apartment, located in a city known for its mixture of architectural styles, features a striking wooden dining table from Urban Outfitters that inspired the overall design concept. Elina Mussakulova emphasized the importance of the soft grey walls, diverse wood tones, and a touch of olive green that enhances the space's elegance. Despite the client's preference for a monochrome palette, the designers opted to add colorful accents, which made the apartment feel more vibrant.

To maximize functionality, a cleverly designed laundry room was incorporated, complete with a textured glass door. This feature minimizes clutter, allowing for a tidier and more spacious appearance in the main living areas. The laundry room's strategic placement behind the kitchen not only helps conceal mess but also allows natural light to flow through due to the glass door.

The apartment's layout is open, with sliding doors leading to the bedroom, fostering an airy atmosphere.

The designers implemented a unique architectural solution: a faux beam that visually divides the hallway from the living space, adding both character and structure.

Most of the furniture is custom-made to fit the apartment's dimensions, while a few selected pieces, such as an Opinion Ciatti chair, complement the design. The bedroom, positioned at the quietest part of the apartment, features a tailored wardrobe and workspace, maintaining the cohesive olive green theme present throughout the apartment.

The bathroom is outfitted with white tiles, dark flooring, and black accents, following the apartment's design language while allowing light to permeate through a glass door. Overall, the Mussakulovas successfully created a harmonious, personalized space that demonstrates how clever design can enhance functionality in small living areas.
