The San Francisco Bay Area folk-pop duo Lonely Parrots has released their new single, “Living Room Lights,” which celebrates the joy of spending time at home. The track highlights the warmth of friendship and spontaneity, encouraging listeners to embrace low-key gatherings over going out.
Consisting of singer-songwriters Michael Martinez and Max Embers, Lonely Parrots are known for their catchy melodies and emotionally resonant lyrics. In “Living Room Lights,” they present a simple yet effective theme: a cozy night at home with friends, music, and snacks can be more enjoyable than any planned event.
Inspired by an evening filled with laughter and tears with close friends, the song captures this intimate experience. Rather than pursuing a large party anthem, the duo focuses on the smaller moments that create lasting memories.
The concept exudes a charming spontaneity; it encourages listeners to dance freely, raid the fridge, turn closets into makeshift fashion runways, and sing freely, showcasing the idea that the best nights require minimal planning.
This single aligns well with the duo's career path, which has distanced itself from traditional industry standards. After leaving Los Angeles, Martinez and Embers embraced intimate house concerts, touring the country five times in their van named Wendy, and performing over 250 shows.
“Living Room Lights” is self-produced and is part of Lonely Parrots’ upcoming debut album, For The Time Being, slated for release in spring 2027. The track embodies the house-show philosophy that has shaped their music journey.
